Before you can fully enjoy Crosslist, some prerequisites are required. These are dependent on the actions you want to perform and are as follows:
In order to create a listing:
- You can use any browser on any device (laptop, desktop, mobile phone, tablet, etc.)
In order to post or import a listing:
- You must use a laptop or desktop computer with Google Chrome installed.
- You must have the Crosslist Chrome extension installed (see below).
- You must be logged in to the marketplaces you want to import from or post to.
We will now go through the each of the prerequisites mentioned above.
Installing the Chrome extension
The Chrome browser extension serves as the bridge between Crosslist and your marketplaces. It is what allows Crosslist to complete the listing forms and import your listings.
The Chrome extension can be downloaded and added to Chrome directly using the Chrome Web Store.
While it is possible to add extensions from the Chrome Web Store to other browsers such as Microsoft Edge and Opera, we highly recommend to use Google Chrome as the other browers have not been adequately tested with Crosslist.
You will be redirected to a page that looks like this:
Click “Add to Chrome” in order to add the extension to your browser. A pop-up will appear asking for confirmation. Simply click “Add extension” to continue.
You should now see a pop-up in the top right corner confirming that the extension has been added to Chrome.
Logging in to your marketplaces
In order to be able to post a listing to a marketplace and/or import a listing from a marketplace to Crosslist, you will need to be logged in to that marketplace. This can be done by opening a new tab, logging in, and closing the tab again.
Most marketplaces provide the users with an option to remain logged in even after closing your browser. We suggest that you enable this option so that you do not need to log in again every time you want to use Crosslist.
By default, Crosslist only requires you to be logged in to the marketplace you intend to post to. So for example, if you only use Poshmark and Mercari, we do not require you to be logged in to Depop. This is clearly indicated by the red text that appears when you select a marketplace that you are not logged in to:
That’s it! You now have all the prerequisites installed to create your first listing.
