Setting up shipping profiles

Crosslist uses shipping profiles to manage shipping across multiple marketplaces.

Shipping profiles allow you to set your desired shipping method for each marketplace you list on. Crosslist will then automatically assign the selected shipping method to each listing that you post to that specific marketplace.

Crosslist currently supports three different shipping methods:

  • Prepaid shipping: the marketplace takes care of the shipping label.
  • Ship yourself: you take care of the shipping label.
  • Local pick-up: the buyer picks up the parcel at a location near you.

However, not every marketplace lets you determine your preferred shipping method yourself.

For example, on Poshmark, the seller must use prepaid shipping labels provided by Poshmark and is not allowed to manage shipping outside the platform. As a result of these policies, Crosslist only lets you define shipping profiles where the marketplace offers the seller a choice. You can find a list of the supported marketplaces below.

How do I set up my shipping profiles?

To set up your shipping profiles for each marketplace, you can follow these steps:

  1. Click Account at the top right of your screen.
  2. Navigate to Settings in the account menu.
  3. Your shipping profiles are available under the section Shipping profiles.

What are the different shipping methods per marketplace?

Crosslist currently lets you determine your preferred shipping method for the following marketplaces:

Click on the URL above to go to the relevant section.

Mercari

Prepaid shipping

This shipping method equals Standard shipping on the Mercari website. With standard shipping, Mercari provides a prepaid shipping label at discounted rates.

The shipping rate is determined by the weight of the package, which needs to be completed in the Crosslist listing form. Based on the weight of the package, Crosslist will automatically select the cheapest shipping provider offered by Mercari.

Weight shipping

Mercari also lets you decide who will pay for the delivery, the buyer or the seller. If you select Always free domestic shipping, Crosslist will automatically select the seller pays option. If you don’t select this option, the default option of buyer pays will be selected.

Ship yourself

This shipping method equals Ship on your own on the Mercari website. With Ship on your own, you provide the shipping label yourself. It’s also not covered by Mercari’s shipping protection.

Mercari does not allow you to charge customers for shipping if you are providing the shipping label. As a result, this defaults to free shipping for the buyer.

Grailed

Prepaid shipping

If you are based in the United States or the United Kingdom, Grailed requires you to use their prepaid shipping labels (called Grailed Labels) when shipping domestically. If you are based in another country, Grailed requires you to take care of the shipping label.

As a result, Crosslist will only attempt to use the prepaid shipping option if you are based in the United States of the United Kingdom.

With prepaid shipping, Grailed lets the seller decide who will pay for the delivery, the buyer or the seller. If you select Always free domestic shipping, Crosslist will automatically select the Offer free shipping option. If you don’t select this option, the default option of buyer pays will be selected.

Ship yourself

Grailed requires you to take care of the shipping label in two scenarios:

  • If you are based in the US or the UK: only if you are shipping outside your country (worldwide shipping).
  • If you are based somewhere else: you always need to take care of the shipping label.

To set your shipping price, you can use the worldwide shipping price in the Crosslist form.

Worldwide shipping only

If left blank, worldwide shipping will not be offered. Currently, Crosslist does not offer the ability to set different worldwide shipping prices according to region.

Note that if you are based outside the US or the UK and you do not set a worldwide shipping price, buyers may assume you are offering free shipping.

It’s also possible to always offer free worldwide shipping. This means that you offer to ship worldwide and you’ll pay the shipping cost. To do so, select the Always free worldwide shipping in your shipping profile.

Depop

Prepaid shipping

If you are based in the United States or the United Kingdom, Depop offers you the option to use their prepaid shipping labels when shipping domestically. This method is called Depop Shipping. If you are based in another country, Depop requires you to take care of the shipping label. Parcels sent using Depop Shipping are also covered under Depop’s seller protection.

The shipping rate is determined by the weight of the package, which needs to be completed in the Crosslist listing form. Based on the weight of the package, Crosslist will automatically select the correct parcel size.

Weight shipping

With prepaid shipping, Depop also lets the seller decide who will pay for the delivery, the buyer or the seller. If you select Always free domestic shipping, Crosslist will automatically select the Offer free shipping option. If you don’t select this option, the default option of buyer pays will be selected.

Ship yourself

Depop requires you to take care of the shipping label in two scenarios:

  • If you are based in the US or the UK: only if you are shipping outside your country (worldwide shipping).
  • If you are based somewhere else: you always need to take care of the shipping label.

This shipping method equals Other Shipping on the Depop website. It’s not covered by Depop’s seller protection.

When using Other Shipping, Depop lets you set a domestic and a worldwide shipping price. The worldwide shipping price is not mandatory.

Domestic and worldwide shipping

Depop also lets you decide who will pay for the shipping; the buyer or the seller. If you select Always free domestic shipping in your shipping profile, Crosslist will automatically apply free domestic shipping to all your listings. If you select Always free worldwide shipping, Crosslist will automatically apply free worldwide shipping to all your listings.

Vinted

The available shipping methods on Vinted depend on the category of your item.

In most cases, Vinted requires you to use a prepaid shipping label. The buyer will be charged for this shipping label.

The shipping rate is determined by the weight of the package, which needs to be completed in the Crosslist listing form. Based on the weight of the package, Crosslist will automatically select the correct parcel size.

Weight shipping

However, for some select categories – typically heavier items – such as gaming consoles, Vinted requires you to handle shipping yourself.

In this case, Vinted lets you determine a shipping price and decide who will pay for the shipping: the buyer or the seller. If you select Always free domestic shipping, Crosslist will automatically select the Offer free shipping option. If you don’t select this option, the default option of buyer pays will be selected.

Note that for prepaid shipping, it’s always the buyer that has to pay for shipping.

Etsy

Similar to Crosslist, Etsy uses a system where you can set shipping profiles beforehand.

Prepaid shipping

This shipping method equals Calculated shipping shipping profile on the Etsy website. With calculated shipping, Etsy provides you with a prepaid label based on the shipping partners you’ve selected in your Etsy shipping profile. Your buyers can then select their preferred shipping partner from your list.

The shipping rate is determined by the weight and the dimensions of the package, which needs to be completed in the Crosslist listing form. Based on the weight and dimensions of the package, Crosslist will automatically select the first eligible shipping partner set up in your Etsy shipping profiles.

Weight dimensionsshipping

Ship yourself

This shipping method equals the I’ll enter fixed prices manually shipping profile on the Etsy website. With I’ll enter fixed prices manually, Etsy lets you determine a domestic and a worldwide shipping price beforehand.

You also have to determine the shipping partners you want to work with. Your buyers can then select their preferred shipping partner from your list.

Because you have already determined the domestic and worldwide shipping price beforehand, you do not have to complete any shipping information in the Crosslist form:

No shipping information required

WARNING

Etsy currently lets you determine multiple shipping profiles per category (calculated versus manual price). However, Crosslist currently supports only one shipping profile per category. As a result, Crosslist will always use the first Etsy shipping profile found per shipping category.

Facebook Marketplace

Prepaid shipping

If you are based in the United States, Facebook offers you the option to use their prepaid shipping labels when shipping domestically. If you are based in another country, Facebook requires you to take care of the shipping label.

The shipping rate is determined by the weight of the package, which needs to be completed in the Crosslist listing form. Based on the weight of the package, Crosslist will automatically select the cheapest shipping provider offered by Facebook Marketplace.

Weight shipping

With prepaid shipping, Facebook also lets the seller decide who will pay for the delivery, the buyer or the seller. If you select Always free shipping, Crosslist will automatically select the Offer free shipping option. If you don’t select this option, the default option of buyer pays will be selected.

Ship yourself

This shipping method equals Ship yourself on the Facebook website. With Ship yourself , you provide the shipping label yourself.

When using Ship yourself, Facebook lets you set a domestic shipping price.

Domestic shipping price

Facebook also lets you decide who will pay for the shipping; the buyer or the seller. If you select Always free shipping in your shipping profile, Crosslist will automatically apply free shipping to all your listings.

Local pickup

With local pickup, you do not ship the item but you instead have the buyer pick it up at a specific location. This is ideal if you’re not willing to ship the item but rather have the buyer come pick it up at a location near you.

Facebook allows you to combine Prepaid shipping and Ship yourself with local pickup. In this case, the buyer can decide whether he wants the item shipped, or whether he wants to pick up the item himself.
