My images have black borders when listed on some marketplaces

Sometimes, your images may have been listed with black borders on certain marketplaces.

The reason for this is that some marketplaces have different standards concerning the aspect ratio of the images that they allow on their platform.

For example, Poshmark and Depop only allow square images (aspect ratio 1:1), while eBay also allows images in a rectangular format (e.g. aspect ratio 9:16).

As a result, if you are cross listing from eBay to Poshmark and your image is rectangular, Crosslist will by default add black borders to make your image square.

Without this feature, your image will be cropped automatically by Poshmark or Depop to fit their standard, which typically means a portion of the image will become lost, as seen in the example below:

If this listing would be cross listed to Poshmark without adding black borders:

Poshmark Square Crop

As you can see, Poshmark has cropped the image to a square format, and the hanger and sleeves are now barely visible.

If you don’t want Crosslist to add black borders to your images, you can always turn this setting off in your Account Settings by selecting Crop excess to fit square instead of Add borders to fit square.
